چکیده

We measured the low temperature specific heat of a sputtered (Fe 23Å /Cr 12Å )33 magnetic multilayer, as well as separate 1000 Å thick Fe and Cr films. Magnetoresistance and magnetization measurements on the multilayer demonstrated antiparallel coupling between the Fe layers. Using microcalorimeters made in our group, we measured the specific heat for 4 < T < 30 K and in magnetic fields up to 8 T for the multilayer. The low temperature electronic specific heat coefficient of the multilayer in the temperature range 4 < T < 14 K is γML = 8.4 mJ/K g−at. This is significantly larger than that measured for the Fe or Cr films (5.4 and. 3.5 mJ/Kmol respectively). No magnetic field dependence of γML was observed up to 8 T . These results can be explained by a softening of the phonon modes observed in the same data and the presence of an Fe-Cr alloy phase at the interfaces. 75.70 (magnetic multilayer), 75.40 (specific heat of magnetic materials) Typeset using REVTEX

A LOW TEMPERATURE SPECIFIC HEAT INVESTIGATION OF Cd Mn Se AND Cd Mn S

The specific heat of Cd Mn Se (x = 0.01) and Cd , Mn S (x = 0.026) in the temperature range of 0.3 - 40K was measured. The measurements were carried out in different applied magnetic fields (H = 0,10,20, 28KG). The results were analyzed with a model which includes long range interactions. Calculations based on on extended version of nearest neighbor pair approximation (including triplets)...

Convective heat transfer enhancement of the Water-based magnetite nanofluids in the presence of a 3-D low-intensity magnetic field

In the current investigation, Fe3O4 water-based nanofluids were synthesized to examine the effect of an alternative 3-D external magnetic field on its thermal behavioral pattern. A solvothermal method was used to prepare the magnetite nanoparticles. To characterize the nanoparticles, the study employed transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform ...

Cooling Enhancement of a Photovoltaic Panel Through Ferrofluid Stimulation Using a Magnetic-Wind Turbine

Wind energy is used to rotate a magnetic turbine in order to remove heat from the surface of a photovoltaic (PV) panel. A three-bladed turbine, which rotates with wind energy, has rotational motion underneath the studied PV panel in order to move Magnetic Nano-Particles (MNPs). In addition, effects of the magnetic field strength (B=450-830 mT), rotational velocity of the magnetic turbine (ω), a...
